Fall Out

Thu Sep 24, 2009, 12:55 PM
All Dem Leaves Must Fall
The Summer of Hate is slowing unwinding. I can't tell if folks are finally getting a clue and checking their facts before typing and whining or if they have just realized that their leadership team of Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, DeMint, Bachmann, Palin and Boner are the new...nee, NEO Confederacy of Dunces. Either way, Birther Nation appears to be taking a brief holiday.

On Photography
The malaise from the Summer of Hate is waning and interest in photography is back. My aforementioned trip to my all class High School reunion helped. Visiting those warm mountains just does something. Trips are planned, cameras are ready. Now, if the rain would just stop.

That HighSchool Reunion Thingie
The 100th Anniversary of Harlan High School brought out a very good crowd with folks from 90 to 18. I saw some folks I had not seen since I left Harlan over a third of a century ago [yikes!]. That was real good. It was the success that I hoped it would be. Now comes the hard part. Following through on those promises not to make it another 30+ years before we see each other again.

On a separate note, highschool reunions were not anything like portrayed in Hollywood movies. There were no really catty fights between the "popular" folks and the "nerds" that switched places over the years as the nerds rolled up in the hot cars and there were no prom reenactments to highlight the worst of anxieties that many folks had with their first and last efforts on the dance floor. And there were no stalking killers roaming the halls waiting to extract revenge for that slight in Civics class back in 1969. Other than those disappointments, it was a very good reunion.

I found you as I was looking for some shots of Kintyre. My McAllister family is originally from there from the 1800s and back. I was at Glenbarr Abbey on the island back in 1999 as we drove through 1800 miles of Scotland. All that is on print film and I have yet to convert it to digital.

You do excellent photography.

I have holidayed in Kintyre since 1994 and I moved here in August this year. I know Glenbarr well, though I have yet to visit the abbey. I live at the opposite side of the peninsula from Glenbarr at a small place called 'Carradale' and I love it. I can't see me leaving here voluntarily ;)

You may be interested in this website -----> [link] It has lots of 'on the ground' pictures of the UK including Kintyre, some mine. If you ever find yourself in this corner of the world again call in for a cuppa.

Thanks

Steve

Thanks for the link to camerawhore.

I also might want to hook up for information for next year's RIAT in July. While I know Dayton well, I don't know what would be best for a show like RIAT.
:iconskerwish:
Yeah no problem McAllister, there are 2 farms adjacent to the airfield that have prime photography positions and are way cheaper than actually going into Fairford, Note me when you want any info on it.

I like your work. Your stalking of predator birds in the training zone are great.

Last time we were in Scotland we had a pair of Tornados use us as targets as we zipped down the east coast from Edinburgh. At the time we didn't have time to stake out a position to do any shooting.
:iconskerwish:
:) We had some aircraft head straight towards us and give us a bit of a buzz!! then they pull up and bank over, quite spectacular to see!
